    The Mystery of Anthrax Island

    2026-03-14 21:45:00

Anthrax is a rare disease caused by naturally occurring bacteria which can form spores that are fatal to humans and animals. During the Second World War, government scientists from Porton Down attempted to weaponise anthrax, creating a deadly strain that they then tested on Gruinard Island, an uninhabited remote site off the coast of Scotland. This proved disastrous for Gruinard and, from 1942 onwards, people were forbidden from setting foot on the island. Signs were erected on the shore and the adjacent mainland, and Gruinard was dubbed The Island of Death or Anthrax Island. This documentary reveals an extraordinary Scottish story from 1981, when a shadowy group called the Dark Harvest Commandos claimed to have landed on the island and removed 300lbs worth of infected soil. They wrote a dramatic letter explaining and justifying their actions, which was sent to various newspapers and the BBC. In the letter, they explained their campaign to clean up Gruinard had begun with a package of island soil dumped outside Porton Down. Nobody knew who they were or if they were serious.

    Designing the Hebrides

    2026-03-16 16:00:00

Banjo has been commissioned by married couple Jhennia and Rachel to transform the Puffer Pub on the tiny slate island of Easdale. The historic pub is the beating heart of Easdale’s population of just 60, so Banjo’s design needs to hit the mark with the locals and the owners. With no roads and only wheelbarrows to transport all his materials, this makeover will be very challenging. Lisa, Eoghan and Tom race against time to complete his ambitious designs, but will his radical idea of replacing the decades-old bar meet the approval of the locals, and can he complete the work ahead of the World Stone Skimming Championships.

    Designing the Hebrides

Banjo and his team are heading to Harris in the Outer Hebrides to help herbalist Amanda transform her huge apothecary. The space needs filling, so Banjo enlists Chris to pick flowers for him to dry and use to dress the space. Amanda lets Banjo raid her loft to find objects he can use in his design and enlists local tradesmen from Harris to help him divide up her space with salvage he’s brought from the mainland. Can the team transform the empty dull space into a beautiful but functional apothecary for Amanda to work her botanic magic in, or will the scale of the project defeat them.

    2026-03-16 22:00:00

Banjo's brought in to help two small businesses who survive by selling their produce via honesty boxes. Jamie and Mary live on the Isle of Mull. Jamie works full time catching lobsters, and Mary looks after their three children but also runs a small sandwich shop. Too busy to open the shop full time, they also sell their produce in an honesty box. They want Banjo’s help to make their box stand out and attract visitors. The other honesty box is in South Uist, in the Outer Hebrides. Donna works as a carer by day but also has a side hustle making ice cream. She currently runs her honesty box out of an old livestock trailer and wants Banjo to help her build something more imaginative and fun. Can his ambitious honesty boxes stand out in the crowd and please the clients.

    Designing the Hebrides

Artist Mike and his teacher wife Kate moved to Iona 20 years ago. They now run Iona Wool, which sells ethical local wool products. Their shop is functional but could do with some Banjo design magic. The beautiful colours of their stock mean that they don’t want much colour, which is a challenge for Banjo, whose designs are often dark and richly coloured. Banjo comes up with a modern Hebridean design idea which he hopes will keep selling the gorgeous woollens but also warm up the shop with some fun design features. Banjo heads to Glasgow to his favourite salvage shop and buys dozens of bobbins from old wool mills to help with his design. His trusty team of local tradespeople help him realise his design vision. Meanwhile, Lisa makes woollen lampshades, and Eoghan builds a woven timber wall to hide a changing room. With little time and only £6,000, will Banjo’s shop transformation hit the mark.

    The Harbour

    2026-03-17 20:30:00

Aberdeen Harbour, on the north east coast of Scotland, is one of Britain's oldest businesses and one of Europe's most modern ports. It is the heartbeat of the offshore oil and gas industry. Every year, more than eight thousand boats pass through the harbour waters, helped by the hidden world of the men and women who keep it running 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is their story... In this episode, we're up at 4.30am to meet larger than life fish merchant Doug Rennie for his daily drive north to get the best prices at the Peterhead fish auction. He also has the big move to a new state-of-the-art fish processing factory to contend with. While The Highland Prince loads with vital supplies for a North Sea oil rig, on-the-job training for new pilot Ralph Greig serves as a jolting reminder that this is one of the most dangerous jobs in the harbour. And the Harbour chaplain's tireless work to open a Sea Farer's centre in Aberdeen finally pays off, but success is followed by a devastating blow..

    Ultras

    2026-03-17 22:00:00

All across Scottish football, at every level, youth-led ultras groups are transforming match days. Inspired by European terrace culture, and amplified through TikTok and YouTube, young fans are organising with precision, designing vast banner displays, coordinating marches and igniting pyrotechnics that turn stadiums into theatre. This episode explores how and why it has taken hold, and we meet ten-year-old Jayden, who is discovering the ultras online, and the mum backing his growing obsession. We also follow vlogger Blair, whose access and content have accelerated the movement’s reach, and the young supporters forming groups from scratch, determined to seize the atmosphere at their clubs. While some see the spark of something special, psychologists and police see something faster and harder to predict. As banners are painted and drums lifted, match day swells with a scale and intensity that few expected. At its best, this is belonging and collective joy, but as the spectacle grows, so does its influence. Who is shaping this movement, and what responsibility comes with rising power.

JLB: The Man Who Saw the Future

    2026-03-21 22:00:00

In 1926, John Logie Baird became the first man in history to give a successful public demonstration of television. During WWII, with the help of one assistant, a part-time glassblower and a refugee from Germany, he built his masterpiece and swansong - the Telechrome. It was the foundation of all modern electronic colour television. In a lifetime blighted with ill health, JLB - as he was known - produced 178 patents crucial to the technology that would define the 20th century. But since his early death in 1946, his achievements have been allowed to slip from view, obscured by ignorance about what he pioneered. Few are aware that much of his greatest work was done in complete seclusion, in his personal laboratory and entirely at his own expense. Filmed in the UK, USA and Germany between 1994 and 2002 and featuring previously unseen archive and historic eyewitness testimony led by his son Malcolm, this documentary reveals the unknown story of the central figure behind the most powerful technology on earth.

    The Harbour

    2026-03-24 20:30:00

Aberdeen Harbour, on the North East coast of Scotland, is one of Britain's oldest businesses and one of Europe's most modern ports. It is the heartbeat of the offshore oil and gas industry. Every year, more than eight thousand boats pass through the harbour waters, helped by the hidden world of the men and women who keep it running 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is their story... This week, we're with the crew of the ferry as it loads up then sails north for Orkney and Shetland. With over 380 passengers aboard, there are a lot hungry mouths to feed. In the boatman's bothy, the talk is also of food. Billy Duguid loves two things; a plate of scallops fresh from the North Sea and winding up colleague Craig Massie over their Torry v Footdee rivalry. And the stork arrives in the harbour not once but twice as pilots Tim Wingate and Jeff Gaskin both welcome new arrivals to their families.

Emma and the kids run the farm while Rob is away, and the family prepare to welcome visitors for Spring Fun Day.

    Ultras

    2026-03-24 22:00:00

Every movement reaches a moment of consequence, and as ultras culture expands, so do the costs. This episode confronts what happens when spectacle spills into disorder. CCTV footage captures young fans running amok at a small local club, leaving a community charity facing serious financial risk, and exposing how quickly atmosphere can tip into damage. The lens widens to Rangers and Celtic, where ultras culture carries national weight. We follow a police match commander navigating a fan base that is younger, faster and digitally mobilised. Social media does not just document events, it drives them. Vlogger Blair’s access begins to fracture as clubs close ranks, and the boundary between culture and provocation tightens. Through football authorities, journalists, psychologists and officers on the ground, we examine pyro, intimidation and group behaviour under pressure. When passion turns combustible, responsibility becomes contested. Who answers when culture becomes chaos.

The Beauty Queen and the Catfish

    2026-03-24 22:45:00

Dr David’s victims begin comparing their stories, and it becomes clear they are dealing with a sophisticated catfish. But nothing could prepare them for the shocking truth of the perpetrator’s true identity, which leaves the women with more questions than answers. But when beauty queen Abbie takes these findings to the police, they are unable to do anything about it, and the Catfish of Kilmarnock remains free to target more and more victims. Abbie can’t walk away, and steps up her investigation over months that turn into years. As she continues to track the catfish, the scale of their criminality comes into focus, with victims spread across the country and dating back over a decade. This is one of the UK’s most prolific ever catfish, and they are not done yet.
